A RARE OPPORTUNITY

Do you know that in the Philippines, there is only one priest for every 9,500 Filipinos? Yet, while there was a decline in vocations in western countries, there are still active vocations available, most especially in the Asian countries.

There is one challenge though: most of those who have the vocation do not have the capacity to pay for their education.

Now this is a rare opportunity…

We studied the demographics of the seminarians enrolled in Don Bosco School of Theology and here is what we found out:

1. We discovered that 37% come from families who live in the farmlands, 19% of them have parents who are already retired and 12% have parents who are employed and the rest are those who have small businesses.

2. We also learned that 42% of the seminarians enrolled come from the poor mission countries where majority of the population are primarily Muslim and Buddhist (countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar among others); and for the Philippines, 25% come from Luzon, 20% from Visayas and 13% from Mindanao.

“How then can people call on someone they have not believed? And how can they believe in someone they have not heard about? And how can they hear without someone preaching? And how can people preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15)

The good news given to us and handed to us by the apostles and our ancestors is slowly being diluted in these present times. The Catholic Church has experienced so many persecutions even to this date. We need to proclaim the good news, give hope to those in need and correct a world that is disfigured in its morals.

That is why in Don Bosco School of Theology, we give the seminarians, religious and lay people the best possible education. Not only do we make Christ Known, we also make Christ Felt! In our tagline ‘We Accompany. We Grow’, we make sure that each student under our care is given the guidance spiritually, morally and emotionally.

We get involved in their lives and make them better persons, so in turn, they can do the same for other people. We also aim to enhance the qualifications and higher education of our present professors, clergy and staff to be at par, if not better, in the promotion of the gospel as it adjusts to the changing times.

We aim to be the Center of Evangelization not only in the Philippines but in the whole of Asia. This is our goal. This is our aim.

And this is the rare opportunity that you can be part of!
