Academic Journal

LANTAYAN is the official Pastoral-Theological Journal of the Don Bosco School of Theology. Through theological reflection and research, this journal seeks to respond to the growing quest for deeper insights into our Catholic faith and Church ministry.

It is also a Tagalog word which may refer to both the place and the process of purifying precious metals so that they may become lantay (“pure”), consequently rendering them more valuable.  By extending its meaning we can say that lantayan is the place and process by which something becomes definitive, something that was initially uncertain reaches relative surety and acceptability – and something good is transformed into something better.

LANTAYAN publishes once every academic year. To date, we are accepting only articles written in English. Submitted manuscripts are subjected to a qualitative assessment of the Editorial board.

The LANTAYAN Cover

We have chosen colors from the DBST logo, representative of our desire to be linked closely to the school’s mission. The gold lettering of LANTAYAN in gradient represents the process of filtering, of purifying, and of transforming. Added to this is the detail of smelting fire, lending the idea of the movements of discernment and enlightenment for the reader. We picked out a font reminiscent of the elegance of gold artifacts in precolonial times to represent the wealth and depth of thought that goes into the penning of these issues. Lastly, Mal 3:3 stands as a testament to the pledge that it will be the very hand of the Lord molding us through these pages towards spiritual growth.
